I’ve always really loved birds, but this summer I became aware of shorebirds with a whole new appreciation. I’ve grown up at the beach and they’re not new to me, but I saw them in a whole new way. This little guy is fascinating. Love those eyes!
I feel this way about birds in general. Yes, I’ve been surrounded by them my whole life, but I didn’t really begin to take notice of them until about six months ago. They are fascinating!!

Beautiful photo. It’s amazing how many species of birds have red eyes.
The red eyes are what I find most interesting about this bird.
