Each year, for our anniversary, my husband and I celebrate with a little trip to Yosemite and/or the Eastern Sierras. One of the things we hope to see each year is the fall foliage. Sometimes we’re lucky, sometimes we’re not. This year, the display was stunning! Late last week, the colors were amazing up and down US Route 395 in Mono County.
Photos were taken on Rock Creek Road on Friday, October 5th, 2012.

I think I’ve seen that Mountain. Is it off US 395, southeaster Sierras? My Daughter and I named it “cookies & cream” mountain. I wouldn’t mind knowing its real name.
Yes, that’s where it is, but I have no idea what it’s named. Cookies & Cream is fitting, though!
Thank you for the like of my Weekly Photo Challenge: Geometry post.
You’re welcome.
Love the photos. Thank you for visiting and liking my Weekly Photo Challenge post “Foreign”.
Thanks! I enjoyed your “foreign” post. I’m struggling with what to photograph, as I like to actually take the photos during the week of the challenge. Fun!
Thank you for stopping by my blog and for the like. Nice pictures!
Thank you! And thanks for visiting.

Autumn colours make for wonderful photos.

Thank you, Cristina.
Oh my gosh! Before moving to Hawaii last year, we used to camp at Rock Creek every October. Our boys just love it there. The Eastern Sierras is one of the greatest playgrounds on earth!
There was a campground there that was absolutely surrounded by yellow and orange leaves. It was shockingly beautiful!
Great photos! We love the Eastern Sierras.
Thank you!
great photos….do you ever get to visit the area during winter?
Yes, I have been in winter, and it’s gorgeous, but we prefer the warmer months. I’m not much of a snow person…
oh man…..I need the snow!
I love the photo of the yellow leaved trees.. they seem very cozy for some reason!
I agree that there’s something about the yellow-leaved trees. We passed a few ranch houses that were completely surrounded with them, and it was so beautiful.
Absolutely gorgeous!!! …My favorite time of year with an incredible backdrop! Thanks for sharing your lovely trip!
My pleasure!
Happy Anniversary! Stunning colours and views! Sharon
Thanks!
Rock Creek is where we stayed! We had a great little cabin. I fell in love with this region and couldn’t believe I’d lived in Southern California my whole life and we’d never previously explored this area. We followed parts of the John Muir trail and I can’t wait to go back! It’s been really fun to experience the area again with you.
Soooo many of our favorite hikes are in that area! Glad you discovered it… we head over there (different spots in the region) as often as we can?
I love the eastern Sierra – thanks for the pictures.
The mountains over there are our favorites! The photos my husband took (on a borrowed higher quality camera) came out MUCH better! Maybe I’ll post those later in the week… they capture the colors better…
