Family Time: A Ride in the Redwoods

The highlight of the weekend for my son?  A Sunday afternoon bike ride with his dad….

While my husband and son were riding, I enjoyed a nice, quiet walk through the redwoods.  Lovely….

Location:  Redwood Regional Park, Oakland

  1. I’m looking for a peaceful and quiet little nook in the redwoods…for sitting and reading and spending a few quiet hours. I often go to Samuel P Taylor, in Marin, but would love to find a spot closer to EastBay/here…any ideas? Did you see any little, appealing groves in Redwood?…maybe in the little town of Canyon?

    • Our favorite one in the East Bay is Redwood Regional Park in the Oakland Hills. There are lots of picnic tables and benches throughout the park. I also enjoy the groves at Roberts Regional Park, also in the Oakland Hills. I’ve found a few hidden little redwood groves in a few other locations… UC Berkeley Botanic Gardens and Blake Gardens both have small groves. The San Francisco Botanic Garden also has a grove. Further away, but perhaps closer than Samuel P. Taylor, the Santa Cruz mountains have some great redwood groves, too. I love Big Basin. I love redwoods!
